Don’t Miss the Multnomah Channel Floating Home Owners Meeting

At Portland Floating Homes, we make it easy to connect floating home owners to resources which help make their life on the water easier.

You can find one such resource “Living on the Water: Guide for Floating Homeowners and Marina Managers” on our Floating Home Owners page. The purpose of this guide is to provide floating home residents and managers of floating marinas with information on effective and practical methods to protect property and minimize the impacts of living on the water.

As they relate to water quality, this guide includes general information on floating home issues such as:

  • Safety
  • Construction
  • Repair
  • Maintenance
  • Living with and enjoying wildlife
  • Managing invasive species
  • And more!

The Scappoose Bay Watershed, who published the original guide in 2016, is holding a meeting and inviting owners of floating homes on the Multnomah Channel who are interested in two things:

1. Helping to provide updates to the “Living on the Water” guide. The authors are updating this free guide and are looking for input and ideas – What concerns do you have as a floating home owner living on the river? If you have not seen this terrific guide, please take a look at it and bring suggestions as to additional content you would like to be included in the next edition. Bring them to the meeting or send them to the author, Pat Welle of Scappoose Bay Watershed Council (and floating homeowner); contact information below.

2. A presentation of two-years’ of water sampling data many of us were involved in collecting, the river’s changes in clarity and temperature, and what conclusions may be drawn from the data.  A representative from DEQ will also be present.

The meeting will be at the Sauvie Island Grange – February 26 from 6-8pm. Please help get out the word.  This meeting is Multnomah Channel-focused, but all floating home owners from Gresham to St. Helens are welcome as the guide addresses best practices and living on the water for all river residents.
